Week 4

Today starts my fourth week of eating clean, except for yesterday on Father’s Day, I ate a huge prime rib dinner. Sorry I’m not sorry.

Anyway, I’m starting week four with a new workout plan provided by a friend of mine who I trust. It’s kicking my butt. It has me doing cardio before weights which is a total change for me. I dig it a lot. Also I’m ending with 10 min in the steam room which I HATE. But I’m going to try it out.

So far in the last three weeks I’ve lost 10 pounds, I know the scale doesn’t matter but it is a marker I’m on the right track, and had to go a notch tighter on me belt.

So, here we go week four.

Pre workout ritual

Today is the beginning of week three of eating strictly Paleo and working out. I’m starting to get into a grove and feeling good.

I’m starting to notice a little change. Nothing drastic, but I just feel a little tighter, probably imperceptibly leaner. I like it. Can’t wait to see what 6 weeks feels like.

This is my usual breakfast, which I look forward to because I don’t eat anything after 7 pm the night before.

Craving sweets

Just yesterday I was bragging to my friends that I haven’t craved sweets since I started eating Paleo again. Well, that’s over. I want sugar of any kind. Bubblegum? Sure. Donuts? Alright. Candy? Yes, please!

I’m not giving in to any of these cravings but it isn’t easy. Here’s hoping it gets easier.

I’m trying to get more protein in since I’m going low carb and trying to have a calorie deficit. Protein is expensive so I bought a bunch of sardines. These were packed in olive oil and I put some sriracha.

Weird, but tasty and full of good fat and protein.

Beginning, Again.

So, I have been out of the gym for a while now. I have also not been eating Paleo. I’ve gotten out of shape and tired.

Last week I decided to do something about it. My wife and I went through our pantry and fridge and threw away all of the bad food we had accumulated. Then, I got back to the gym. I kept trying to do P90X at home, but I don’t really like it and I would make excuses not to do it. Thankfully I still have my gym membership, and the gym is right across the street from work, so I can go at lunch.

My natural bent is to lift heavy a la Wendler 5/3/1, but I need to lean out, so instead I’m just doing some higher rep training and super setting followed by cardio. I’m starting to get back into the groove of making good choices about food and looking forward to my workouts.

I don’t know why I felt the need to post this, but I think documenting some of this might help me stay with it.

You guys, Star Trek

So, I’m not a Trekkie. Like, at all. I have always been a Star Wars guy, and for years felt like you couldn’t like both. But this new Star Trek movie was just so good. I will not spoil anything, but I’d say no matter how you feel about the franchise you should check it out.

Here’s how good it was, I think I’m going to watch the original movies again, the first time since I was a kid. I know.

I love these Thursday opening nights for summer movies.

I have a stack of new comics that I just picked up today and I’m really looking forward to a few of them. But this, this is just too good.
